Final Decision On Schools’ Reopening to be Taken Today

The Federal Education Minister ShafqatMahmood today convened a meeting of the Provincial Ministries of Health and Education to conclude the decision on the reopening of schools across Pakistan.

The minister wanted to reopen the schools, but he decided to reopen educational institutions based on the health consultation in light of the coronavirus situation in the country. The minister said he wanted schools to be reopened. The welfare of students was the government’s highest priority, he said.

Here, it is necessary to note that Federal Education Shafqat Mahmood said earlier that, as a result of the growing number of a incidents, reopening of educational institutes after 11 January 2021 was difficult.

On Thursday, the Lahore High Court had previously filed a petition questioning the government’s Jan 4 decision to reopen educational establishments across the country on 18 January.

Shafqat Mahmood said that the meeting will consider the re-opening of educational institutions in the country in view of the pandemic situation. according to the common data, during the conversation with journalists.

Prior to this, the minister of education had announced that decision to reopen education institutions would be taken based on health consultation taking into account the current status of coronavirus across the country.
