HEC Shares the List of Illegal and Unrecognized Universities

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) issued an updated list of fake, illegal, and unrecognised universities across the country on Monday, instructing students to avoid enrolling in these institutions.

The HEC stated on Twitter that it only recognises degrees from chartered universities, higher education institutions (HEIs) in the public and private sectors, and their approved campuses.

It advised students to confirm the affiliation of a Higher education institute or campus with the respective universities before enrolling. The HEC also advised students not to enrol in any of the following universities or campuses:

The commission stated that the list has also been uploaded to the HEC website for students’ convenience.

“As a result, it is the responsibility of students and parents to check the institute’s status before enrolling.” Otherwise, the commission will be held harmless. “However, links to recognised and unrecognised institutes are provided below,” the HEC stated.

It went on to say that any other institution that is not on this list or on the HEC website’s list of recognised institutions “may also be treated as fake, illegal, unlawful, and unrecognised institutions.”
