In the 2018 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings list of the world’s best institutions that are 50 years old or less, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was placed 194th, placing it within the top 200 best ‘young’ universities of the world.
In a ranking based on the same 13 performance metrics as the flagship ‘The World University Rankings,’ the IIUI came in second in Pakistan.
To give the most thorough and impartial comparisons available, the universities are rated across all of their major purposes – teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international view. There are 539 universities in the 2022 rankings, up from 475 in 2021.

Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, the university’s rector, and Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, the university’s president, commended the university’s community on another achievement. Its recent development is the result of the university’s management’s ongoing reforms and initiatives, which include the creation of a new strategic plan for the institution, which assisted in obtaining a scientifically accurate picture of the university’s accomplishments.
IIUI’s leadership expects that the next rankings will be even better because new reforms and efforts, such as the implementation of the university’s strategic plan and academic audits, have progressed to the mature stage. It is now ready and in a better position to present its successes and achievements using a quantitative analytic approach that will result in more accurate and realistic university rankings in the future.

IIUI has also begun thorough research work that will aid in improved ranking through industrial partnership, acceptance of international-funded projects, research collaborations, and global engagements. Its leadership has praised the team’s efforts, particularly the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Development (QAD) and the Office of Research and Enterprise, for their tireless efforts to make it a success.
Dr. Yasinzai congratulated the IIUI community and praised the team’s efforts in completing the procedure.
“I am pleased to announce that IIUI has been named among the top 200 best young universities in the world,” Dr. Alotaibi said in a tweet. In Pakistan’s ranking of Young Universities, IIUI came in second. “I would like to congratulate the IIUI community.”
