Professor Atta ur Rehman to Head PM’s Advisory Council on Scholarships

The head of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Atta ur Rahman, has been selected to the PM’s advisory council on scholarships.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training notified the appointment on Sunday. Dr. Atta ur Rahman will be in charge of the distribution of more than Rs. 5 billion in educational scholarships.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) was notified that the advisory council needed secretarial support.

“In this regard, the HEC is urged to give secretarial help to the advisory council, as the HEC handles the majority of the scholarship portfolio,” it continued.

PM Imran Khan said in January this year that his administration would dole out 6 million scholarships worth Rs. 47 billion to help students from low-income households dur ing a live telethon show called “Aap Ka Wazir-e-Azam, Aap Kay Saath.”

He had previously stated, “The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration has set aside Rs. 47 billion for 6 million merit-based educational scholarships.”

After that, the government created a web platform to answer complaints about educational subsidies.

Scholarship recipients will be able to file their concerns regarding issues they are having using this service, which is linked to the Prime Minister Citizen Portal.
