Punjab Education Minister Reveals Expected Decision on School Reopening

Minister of Education Punjab, Dr Murad Raas, said that if the existing coronavirus situation does not improve, the provincial government will have no choice but to broaden the closure of educational schools in Punjab.

Dr. Murad noted during his speech in Lahore that the provincial government is opposed to the shut-off of educational institutions but in the existing conditions it will be the most viable choice.

Last month, IPEMC announced the shut-off of educational institutions from 23 November to 10 January 2021 following the worsening of the coronavirus situation throughout the region, following a recommendation from NCOC.

On Monday, Federal Minister of Education, Shafqat Mahmood, declared that a debate on the re-opening of schools will take place on 4 January 2021 during the Conference of Provincial Ministers of Education (IPEMC).
