
In both public and private schools in Punjab, the Punjab government has implemented a new dress code for male and female pupils. The clothing code will take effect right now.
Punjab Education Minister Dr. Murad Raas announced at a news conference on Monday that boys will henceforth be compelled to wear headgear, while girls will be required to wear a headscarf.

Dr. Murad Raas also gave strict directions to all public and private schools to ensure that the recently adopted directives are followed. Dr. Murad Raas stated that if a breach occurs, legal action will be taken against the management of the respective public or private school.
In addition, the Minister stated that the Holy Quran is now being taught in both public and private educational institutions in the province for the first time. Naazra (Quran reading) is taught to students in grades 1 to 5, whereas Tafseer is taught to students in grades 6 to 12. (Quran explanation).
This isn’t the first time in the country that a dress code has been established in a school. Male students were prohibited from wearing shorts, cut-off jeans, and trousers at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad’s (UAF) Toba Tek Singh sub-campus in December, while female students were prohibited from wearing t-shirts, jeans, sleeveless shirts, see-through, and skintight skirts.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) barred female instructors from wearing jeans and tights and male teachers from wearing jeans and t-shirts in September of last year. Bacha Khan University mandated that female students wear black abayas with white or black headscarves and male students wear plain shirts with blue or black dress slacks or shalwar kameez in January of last year.
