The Matriculation exams in Punjab will begin on 4 May, and the Intermediate examinations will begin on 14 June, according to the Ministry of Education’s announcement.

The prospects of over four million students in Punjab are in jeopardy because examination schedules have been postponed yet again by the education boards.

The Matriculation exams are almost a month away, according to the data, and the nine education boards, including the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, have yet to issue the date sheets for the Matriculation and Intermediate exams.

When contacted for comment, Secretary BISE Lahore expressed his ignorance of the situation, stating that he had been given the additional charge of Secretary but had no knowledge of the situation.

“I don’t know how the affairs are run after COVID-19,” said the secretary, who is officially responsible for the academic affairs of the district’s 500,000 students.

In the same relaxed mindset, the province’s largest education board is being run. Aside from the secretary, Dr. Mirza Habib Ali, the Chairman of the BISE Lahore, was named on an additional charge a little over a week ago.

BISE Lahore was marred by irregularities and corruption during the previous government’s tenure. In July of this year, a fire occurred, which resulted in the loss of records. In addition, some board members are being investigated for leaking an analysis report.
