The inauguration of the first permanent offices for the US Educational Foundation in Pakistan today marks a new milestone in the 75-year history of the US-Pakistan partnership (USEFP).
Angela P. Aggeler, the Chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy in Islamabad, stated,
Today’s groundbreaking is just the beginning of USEFP’s and everyone of your efforts to bring our people together through education, and we look forward to seeing it continue for decades to come.

In 1950, the US and Pakistan established a bilateral commission – now known as USEFP – to exchange master’s and doctoral scholars. USEFP now oversees a diverse range of educational and professional exchange programmes, including the world’s largest Fulbright Program between Pakistan and the United States, with thousands of alumni serving as leaders across the country.
The Capital Development Authority’s land grant and the participation of legendary architect Nayyar Ali Dada, according to USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar, are further signs of how positively Pakistan perceives the prospects given by US higher education.
The new headquarters will be a cutting-edge facility for managing US government-funded exchange programmes like the Fulbright programme, as well as the EducationUSA Islamabad advising centre, which is the official US government resource for all students interested in pursuing educational opportunities in the US.
